Imagine it’s a hot Summer day and you’re taking your family on an expected long trip. Your kids had long been waiting for the good weather and you just wanted to get away from the city and have a great time. Suddenly an hour into your trip, you notice your car has stopped pumping cold air. You realize at this point that your car AC has broken down. In the back of your brain you remember the folks at L&D Auto had recommended replacing the compressor asap but you just said “next time”. Now you’ll have to do with no AC until you get back other problems may arise if in fact the compressor has given out. Prevent this problem by having one of our technicians check the health of your air conditioning.
There are several parts that could cause problems with your AC such as:
- A Failing Compressor – signs that your compressor is failing are squealing noises. When a compressor gives out, the main problem is that it can shed pieces of itself. These pieces can end up striking other parts of your vehicle such as the condenser, hoses, accumulator, mix up with the refrigerant, etc. In this case a full clean-up is done as well as flushing all the refrigerant to make sure we flush all the small pieces. Then, we install a new compressor.
- Low Refrigerant – if your AC does not cool as good as it used to be, the problem might be that’s it’s low in refrigerant. Filling up with new refrigerant might be all your need. However, it is common that AC system may have a leak somewhere. You can check this yourself by checking the hoses, condenser or compressor and see if there are any refrigerant buildup. In any case, bring your car to our auto repair shop and we’ll get it fixed for you.
If you AC doesn’t blow air at all, there are many things that could be causing this and the best thing to do is to bring your car to our auto repair shop in Olathe to run diagnostics. Don’t suffer in this hot weather.
